Breaking News: Golden Helmet of Coțofenești Recovered (sources)

The Golden Helmet of Coțofenești has reportedly been recovered, according to sources cited by RTV Drenthe. The Dutch Public Prosecutor’s Office will hold a press conference Thursday afternoon at the Drents Museum, where the latest developments in the investigation are expected to be presented.

The stolen artifacts were part of the traveling exhibition “Dacia! Kingdom of Gold and Silver,” featuring 673 items on loan from the National Museum of Romanian History and other Romanian institutions, celebrating Romania’s ancient heritage. The exhibition was scheduled to close just one day after the theft occurred.

On the morning of January 25, 2025, the Drents Museum in Assen was targeted in a break-in. According to the museum management and Dutch judicial authorities, the perpetrators used a powerful explosive to breach an exterior wall to gain access to the exhibition hall.
