CONAF: Romania does not have a shortage of competent women. However, it has a shortage of representation of female competence in political dialogue

The National Confederation for Women’s Entrepreneurship (CONAF) believes that Romania does not have a shortage of competent women, but a problem of representation of competence in the spaces where political and administrative decisions are made.

The fact that, in recent political consultations, most delegations were made up exclusively of men cannot be treated as a coincidence or relegated to the register of protocol details. In a society where women make an essential contribution to the economy, administration, education, entrepreneurship and public life, their underrepresentation in the spaces where administrative and political decisions are made raises a legitimate question about the mechanisms through which representation is constructed.

The question is not whether there are women ready to participate in Romania’s political and administrative dialogue. The question is why they are not present where the direction of this country is being negotiated....
