On October 26, 2025, Bucharest’s skyline was forever transformed with the consecration of Romania’s People’s Salvation Cathedral, now recognised as the largest Orthodox church in the world. After 15 years of dedicated construction, this grand cathedral stands as a towering testament to Romania’s enduring Orthodox faith and national pride.
The service was led by Patriarch Daniel of Romania and Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I of Constantinople, emphasising the cathedral’s significance not only as a house of worship but also as a symbol of unity, faith, and Romanian resilience. This milestone event coincided with the centenary of the Romanian Patriarchate and 140 years since the Romanian Orthodox Church received autocephaly.
Rising to an impressive 134 meters, the cathedral is not only the tallest Eastern Orthodox church in the world but also ranks as the third-tallest domed church worldwide....
